Marine Engines, Turbines & Exhausts
Engines, turbines, exhausts and insulation bags
We have extensive experience providing insulation in environments that are not conducive to standard insulation methods, including shipping (large container ships, bulk material ships, fishing vessels, luxury yachts, tug boats, and private vessels), large compressors (and compressor rooms), power turbines, forklifts, trucks and private vehicles.
Standard methods of insulation and cladding may not be appropriate for a number of reasons, including location, environment, space limitations, excessive vibration, and personal safety.
Three prominent methods recommended by Mount Insulation & Sheetmetals are:
- Bags:- are probably the most adaptable means of covering a non-standard shaped item such as valves, engine exhausts, turbo covers and manifolds. They can be designed and manufactured to cover any shape and can be built up in a number of layers to provide the level of insulation required. They are also removable for later inspection.
- Flexible Cladding Materials:- used mainly on engine exhausts or in areas of high vibration. Mount Insulation & Sheetmetals has developed a system for insulating exhaust pipes that provides excellent insulation characteristics while maintaining its flexible nature.
- Metal Cladding:- used in high wear areas or on luxury boats where aluminium or stainless steel sheetmetal cladding is fitted over the insulation.
