Dust, Fume and Odour Extraction

Mount Insulation & Sheetmetals have been providing dust, fume and odour control solutions for many years. These range from simple exhaust air systems through to highly developed dust collection systems and high-tech bio-filters for fume and odour control.

Systems include:

• Fume Extraction:
  • Containment and collection of fumes within a hood which is diluted and exhausted to the atmosphere, or in larger applications filtered and exhausted to the atmosphere
  • General extraction of a larger area (i.e. workshop) by exhausting stale air and introducing fresh air.
• Dust Extraction / Collection:
  • Single bag dust collection unit.
  • Pulse jet baghouse
  • High Efficiency cyclones.
  • Larger systems require ducting systems to convey the dust from the machine to the filtration unit/cyclone and dust storage system.
• Odour Control:
  • Wet scrubber systems which use water spray to remove odour particles from the air and are seeded with “friendly” bacteria which feed on the odour causing particles.
  • Wet scrubber systems which use water spray to remove odour particles from the air which are them chemically neutralised within the water tank.
  • Bark bio filter systems where air is extracted at source and fed through a bark bio-filter where friendly bacteria are growing on the bark and feed on the odour causing particles. Generally used in high airflow applications.
  • Electrostatic Precipitators

It is important to design any system with careful consideration to the medium being exhausted. For example, you must consider how the material will affect the ducting system (i.e. wood chip wearing away thin ducting or acidic gasses eating galvanised sheetmetal ducting), what should be done with the materials collected in an environmentally friendly manner, will the system comply with all council and environmental regulations, and is the system easy to operate and easy to maintain. All of these factors must be considered when evaluating which system to use.
